Last April the Nantucket Cottage Hospital made the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 Boston Pops on Nantucket due to safety issues concerning COVID-19. The Boston Pops on Nantucket has been a treasured annual event that brings the community together and is a major source of support for Nantucket Cottage Hospital.

When the event was initially canceled organizers promised a reimagined event and they have not disappointed. This year on Saturday, August 8th at 7 pm a free celebration of the Boston Pops for Nantucket will be broadcast on Nantucket Channel 18 and streamed on NCTV18.org.

"The program will feature previous musical performances by the Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestra as well as a newly created virtual piece and a pre-recorded fireworks display. The 45-minute show will also feature Nantucket musicians as well as special video messages honoring the heroes among us. At 7:45 p.m., everyone is asked to step outside wherever they are and “Clap for the Carers”."
