This year, due to continued COVID safety concerns the the Nantucket Conservation Foundation's has come up with the resourceful idea of celebrating the Cranberry Harvest. Instead of holding the Nantucket Cranberry Festival on one weekend they will instead celebrate the Cranberry Harvest through a series of smaller events held throughout the month of October.
Starting October 9th, the new "Cranberry Month" will kick off as part of the Sustainable Nantucket Farmer's Market where the first cranberries of the 2021 harvest will be for sale along with NCF merchandise. The following week includes scheduled guided tours of the Milestone Cranberry Bog (the oldest and largest, continually operated farm on the Island) that educated visitors on the farms history and current operations.
A self-guided tour on site as well as the ACKTrails mobile app are also available. Special farm to table tours will available for restaurants and grocery retailers. For children, a number of pop up Nanpuppet shows will take place at the Cranberry Bog. In addition, school tours of the Milestone Cranberry Bog will be available. Other events including presentations and pop-up cranberry sales are being scheduled.
