Golf on Nantucket is very accessible to the public and as the summer season comes to an end tee-times are even easier to get. Nantucket's two public courses are close to the water with links-style holes reminiscent of coastal Scotland. While similar in some ways each course has its own distinct atmosphere, services and history. It is worth, if time allows, checking out both.
Siasconset "Skinners" Golf Club
Siasconset "Skinners" Golf Club is not only one of the most eastern golf courses in the country, but it is also one of the oldest public courses dating back to 1899. Today the 9 hole course harkens back to the origins of golf where the landscape shaped the course and it was all part of the game, wind, short holes, and long roughs included. When you pull into the unpaved parking lot you will quickly realize that the atmosphere is informal. What the course lacks in perfectly manicured landscapes it makes up for in charm. Right off Milestone Road towards Sconset, "Skinners" has ensured that golf remains fun and accessible on Nantucket for over 100 years.
Normally tee-times are not required but due to COVID-19 restrictions, they are at this time.

Miacomet Golf Course
Miacomet Golf Course is Nantucket's only 18-hole public course serving the seasonal and year-round community. The rolling landscape and consistent winds of this links course will make you feel like you have been transported to Scotland for the day. The course is well managed with fast greens and maintained sand traps. Besides the course itself, the club offers dining facilities, putting greens, a driving range, meeting space, carts, instruction, and a pro shop.
Normally tee-times are not required but due to COVID-19 restrictions, they are at this time. Call ahead at 508-325-0333 or visit https://www.miacometgolf.com/, you can book tee times online via their website.
Coming in the winter months? If the weather allows, and often it does during the winter, Miacomet Golf Course will be open. Nantucket does get snow but not as much as the rest of New England and the close proximity to the salty ocean usually gets rid of any snow cover quickly. It is not uncommon to get a fun day on the course mid-winter.
If you find that you can't walk away from the course you can browse these exclusive listings on, or close to Miacomet Golf Club.
Enjoy, hit 'em straight, hit 'em long.
