Town Registration Instructions for your Short-Term Rental Property

Effective November 1, 2024, if you rent on a short-term basis (less than 32 days) you must register your rental property with the Town of Nantucket.

REGISTRATION PROCESS: The Town has contracted with GovOS to operate the local registration. Short-term rental owners no longer need an account number or activation code to register. Owners can simply visit https://nantucket-ma.munirevs.com/.  The system will allow anyone to register and will create an account number during the registration process. After you submit the application, the status will remain pending until the Town reviews it to ensure all requirements have been met and grants final approval (e.g., fee has been paid, insurance policy uploaded). NOTE: When registering, you must include the address of the property and the name of the person or entity who owns it.

EXPIRATION DATES:  If you have already registered, check the expiration date on your certificate. The town recently updated the expiration dates on all permits approved in 2024 to October 31, 2025. To receive a copy of your updated registration with the new expiration date, simply log into your account and download a copy. Please provide our office with a copy.

ANNUAL FEE:  Currently $250.

WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU: Maury People SIR must have copies of your state and town certificates to rent your property. Please email the certificates to your listing agent or to  if you do not have a specific agent.

If you have any questions on registration, please directly contact the Town of Nantucket by email or GovOS by email or phone at (888) 751-1911.

PLEASE NOTE OUR OFFICE DOES NOT HAVE ACCESS TO YOUR MASSTAXCONNECT ACCOUNT OR TOWN OF NANTUCKET GOVOS REGISTRATION PORTAL: As your Intermediary, we collect and file your Room Occupancy Excise Tax returns each month, however, we do not have access to your state or town online accounts. We do not have the ability to view, update or change the status of your rental units nor can we alter the tax amount determined by the state at the time of filing. The calculation is automated through MassTaxConnect using the certificate number(s) you provide to our office. This makes it imperative that our office is collecting the correct amounts from tenants prior to check-in or else you, as the homeowner, are responsible for paying any additional amounts owed.
